SA-18 Phast™ CFD extensions
The course explains and demonstrates the options now available in Phast for running computational fluid dynamics (CFD) calculations of scenarios to analyse the resulting outcomes
Description
This course provides a full guide on how to make use of Phast’s CFD calculation functionality. It introduces what the CFD features enable, the difference between using Phast CFD without and with the 3D Geometry license extension, and how to make full use of the Phast CFD features. The course content includes:
- Importing CAD geometry, adding custom 3D geometry and using the 3D viewer
- Running CFD calculations
- Phast CFD – pool fire modelling
- Phast CFD – jet fire modelling
- Phast CFD – dispersion modelling
- Viewing and interrogating results
- Exporting scenarios to KFX (DNV’s CFD simulation software)
Learning objectives
Upon completion of this course, you will understand how Phast CFD differs from classic Phast calculations. You will know, through guided examples, how to import CAD geometry, and how to set up and run CFD scenarios. You will be able to generate results plots, both graphs and 3D views, to determine the outcomes from CFD calculations in Phast. You will know how to interpret those results to understand the information the calculations provide, to enable making judgments about the hazard that releases may present.
Target group
Users who are familiar with standard usage of Phast who would like a guided explanation of how to make use of the CFD calculation features which have been introduced in recent Phast releases.
