DNV-ST-F119 Thermoplastic composite pipes training course: Online
This training course explains the philosophy and usage of DNV-ST-F119 by going through a qualification case of a thermoplastic composite pipe.
DNV has published a standard (ST) - DNV-ST-F119 Thermoplastic composite pipes - allowing operators to qualify and utilize thermoplastic composite pipes (TCP) instead of metallic ones, creating substantial cost reduction potentials in all stages of oil and gas projects life cycle.
Issuing the ST was a significant leap towards creating a common platform for qualification and utilization of thermoplastic composite pipes considering strict safety requirements in the offshore industry. Currently, DNV is involved in qualification of TCPs for various offshore applications based on the requirements of DNV-ST-F119.
Course description
The course is intended to cover all aspects of the qualification process of TCPs from manufacturing to analysis and testing. Furthermore, special applications and cost-saving potentials of TCPs for the oil and gas industry will be discussed during this three-session course. Topics included will be:
- Design and safety philosophy of TCPs
- Partial safety factors
- Short- and long-term testing of TCPs
- Failure mechanisms and design criteria of TCPs
- Analysis method explained using a simple example.
Pre-course reading and information will be sent out prior to course start.
Target group
The course should be of interest to engineers, manufacturers and managers working with pipes or risers with focus on design, structural integrity, operation and materials.
