Overhead Lines training course (OHL)
Two days (with optional third day) training course providing a high level of insight and knowledge to overhead line design, covering all aspects of the latest technologies involved - electrical, mechanical, structural and civil.
When end users demand more power, it is necessary to increase the transmission capacity of existing power links or build new high voltage power links. As an expert player in this field and involved in numerous projects every year, DNV offers this training course on Overhead Lines (OHL).
The course provides a high level of insight and knowledge to overhead line design, covering all aspects of the latest technologies involved – electrical, mechanical, structural and civil. Electrical aspects include insulation coordination, earthing, EMF and EMC. Tower types and tower families and structural aspects such as tower strenghts and stiffness are addressed, as well as foundation design, insulators and different conductor types and their behavior under climatic loading.
The last (optional third) day is a hand on design workshop in the electrical field. These examples are according to the real cases and help to understand all theoretical background better. Participants can ask their specific questions and discuss in detail the concept. A case interactive design will enable participants to immediately put what they have learned into practice.
Subjects:
- Introduction
- Tower types and tower families
- Line Routing
- Lightning performance
- Conductors
- Insulators and surge arresters
- Earthing
- EMF & EMC
Target Audience:
Anyone who is of will be involved in overhead lines in the course of their daily work. It is recommended - but not a requirement - that the participants have at least a Bachelor of Engineering degree or some prior knowledge of designing overhead lines.
For more information please refer to the leaflet.
On request, DNV can also provide in-company training (content, location and duration can be adapted to you specific wishes). Please contact us for more information.
