Services related to Ballast Water Management
Our BWM services assist our clients in complying with current regulations. We have been working on ballast water technologies and related technologies for decades, and have vast competence in ballast water management requirements as well as treatment technologies.
DNV offer approval of retrofits through “Alteration approval” in Veracity. By requesting this and answering a questionnaire a project will be set up with a list of required documents to be submitted for approval.
Through “manuals and plans” in Veracity a ballast water management (BWMP) plan can be generated and an order for approval of BWMP plan or biofouling management plan can be requested.
The BWMP generator will automatically use the vessel information from the DNV vessel database and the user input to generate a plan in compliance with IMO Res. MEPC.127(53), BWM.2/Circ.62 and DNV rules.
For approval of BWMPs or biofouling management plans that are not part of an ongoing approval and that does not require approval of other documents the approval can easily be ordered through “manuals and plans”.
For manufacturers of BWMS, we offer type approval services for IMO type approval, and we act as an Independent Laboratory for USCG type approval.
We also offer approval of test facilities engaged in environmental, land-based and shipboard testing of BWMS for type approval.
DNV has experience with BWM from all sides of the table. We have deep insight into type approval, plan approval, feasibility and safety of BWMS, and we use this insight to make it as easy as possible for you to comply with the BWM Convention.
